von rumsfeld by freethinker79 von rumsfeld by freethinker79
A pretty obvious comparison. The Nazis used the Reichstag fire of 1933 (supposedly started by a Communist) to justify a 'war on terror'. They used it as an excuse to establish sweeping emergency powers, open concentration camps, detain people without trial or legal resource, subject them to torture... they used absolutist jargon such as 'you are either with us or against us.' In exactly the same way the Republican administration has exploited September 11th 2001. Rumsfeld is an evil old man. He ordered that the detainees in Guantanamo Bay be subjected to the indignities and terorising that were later used at Abu Grahib. 90 % of the detainees (according to the Red Cross) should not even have been there.

The hat and the head are at the wrong angles .... you either need to skew the hat or find a head clip of Don that more closely resembles the angle of the original face you replaced in the picture.

Amen to that. By the way, did you know your Avatar is very like the flag of Georgia?

:D Yeah, I am Georgian by my mothers side. 50% English, 50% Georgian. It's incredible that they both use St.Georges cross for their flag.

You're the first person I've seen who has reffered to Georgia as in 'the republic of' rather than the state of Georgia. :)

I think a lot of US and coalition personnel are decent folks trying to make the best of a bad situation. I never said otherwise. (There were also good Germans in the 1930s, which does not have a bearing on my general argument, or my attack on Rumsfeld.) I see we are unlikely to agree, however, so please shut up now and go bother someone else.

people who compare Bush and his Staff to nazis do nothing but show how uninformed and childish they are....explain ..if you can how you can with ANY reasoned thought ..how you can compare Bush and his staff.. to the evil bastards who exterminated tens of millions of people in gas chambers and other other atrocities which the nazis did..what's your evidence ??
thinking before you make this type of assertion would be good for you. clearly you missed doing that when you dreamed up this redundant waste of time.

Just to point out less than 6 million people died in gas chamber as only jews were sent to gas chambers so "tens of millions" is far out. The real killing-fest was in the soviet union, over 17 million killed.

Bush is on 100,000+ with 2 years to go, so it is unlikely Bush will beat Hitler.

My argument is that Bush and his cronies have themselves hijacked an act of terorism, drawing licence from it to pursue a pre-existing, right-wing agenda. They both used 'fighting terrorism' to justify the introduction of draconian emergency powers, the holding and torturing of political prisoners held without trial (somethig Rumsfeld approved for Camp X-ray prisoners in 2002), the intimidation of the press (by casting all critics as unpatriotic) and the invasion of other countries. (The Nazis did it for living room for the master race, Bush does it for oil.)

The Nazis' 'gloves came off' after the Reichstag bomb, when they initiated an unholy crusade against 'Judeo-Bolshevik' terrorism. Jews and communists were absolutely linked in their warped imagination, and in their propaganda. Something similar was true of Bush and co's attitude to Al Qaida and Iraq.

I do directly compare the German concentration camps (where Jews and socialists were interned) with the military prison camps modern America has set up in Cuba, Afghanistan and Iraq, where suspects are held without legal resort, and where they are terrorised, humiliated and tortured. (There are similar places in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the Red Cross are denied access.) It may not be on so grand a scale, but the individual injustice is no different. I regard this policy to be just as illeal and just as insanely counter productive as the various persecutions started by the Nazis.
